EKG technicians play a vital role in hospitals, diagnostic centers, and medical offices by conducting tests that record patients’ heart activity. These recordings help physicians detect and treat heart disease, arrhythmias, and other cardiovascular conditions.
Our EKG Technician program combines classroom learning with practical lab experience to prepare you for national certification and employment in the healthcare field.
What You’ll Learn:
EKG setup and operation of electrocardiograph machines
Proper lead placement and patient preparation
Identifying heart rhythms and abnormalities
Cardiac anatomy and physiology
Infection control, safety, and patient communication
HIPAA and documentation compliance
Most graduates work in hospitals, clinics, and doctors’ offices, often with flexible schedules including evenings or weekends.
To qualify for enrollment, you must:
Be at least 18 years of age
Submit a copy of your high school diploma or GED transcript
Demonstrate English reading, writing, and comprehension proficiency
Submit a photo ID and Social Security card
Pass a criminal background check
Complete a physical and TB screening
Sign participation and lab consent forms

Program Fees:
Cincinnati Fee: $775 – $200 deposit required to hold your seat
Cleveland / Youngstown / Warren Fee: $725 – $200 deposit required to hold your seat
If applying for financing, please include an additional $200 for study materials and exam certification cost. Enrollment is confirmed once your deposit is received.
Our courses offer smaller class sizes, one on one attention, flexible schedules, and online options. See below for more information on our courses and to register!. Our school is certified to teach varies of different Allied Health Courses and approved by ODH for our Nurse Aide Training Course.
COVID Tests and Screens may be conducted on all students that enter our Lab and/or Clinical Site. If a student tests positive for COVID 19, 1st Choice Career Centers will follow CDC recommended guidelines and the positive student may be placed on hold from attending in-person classes and the hold duration will be based on CDC recommendations.
